Car Leasing End Of Lease Charges

Options
I am in dispute with a car leasing firm over unfair (in my opinion) end of lease charges for alleged damage over and above BVRLA guidelines.

The lease company has agreed to reduce by around 25%. However, I don't agree with any charges.

Can lease companies legally enforce their charges? We're only talking c. £400 but it's the principle of being ripped off that gets me as much as the cash.

Any advise gratefully received. Mike.

Of course they can enforce the charges. They will be in the contract that you agreed to when you took out the lease.

If you don't agree with the amount of the charges, you can complain, and it sounds like you have.

Ultimately, they could sue you in court for the money, and you would then have an opportunity to tell the judge why you think their charges are unreasonable. The judge would decide who is right.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

is there a mediation service with the BVRLA if you have exhausted other avenues?
  • There were a few surface scratches (no dents or chips). They are claiming they were through the paint but they were just on the surface with no raised edges and totally smooth when rubbed. The inspector showed me her tablet and there was no option to record surface scratches so she had to choose “ through the paint “.
The next step is the brvla, but I was interested of any one else’s experience.

An inspector collected my car for onward delivery to Manheim auctions. She did tell me that they got a % of the monies recouped for damage.
  • Anyone got any other views/advise based on their experience please?
