You wouldn't believe the amount of delaminated plaster I have seen due to the overzealous use of steamers.
Oh I would, but you will note the OP said his walls were in need of re-plastering anyway, so I gave him the option.

Good to know how much I've saved by stripping all the paper myself! Never-ending woodchip all over my house, days and days of wallpaper stripping.

Used Polycell Wallpaper Stripper https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000TAY0XY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_d0ghDbB4C825W on my lathe and plaster walls for a gentler approach instead of steamer.

That will only happen if the plaster is crap in the first place. In our first house the plaster was coming away when the paper was simply soaked in warm soapy water so the steamer simply did a better job of getting it off.

it can take days to successfully remove woodchip!
And if it's been painted too much or with the wrong sort of paint, it becomes impermeable to water and steaming / soaking doesn't work, so you're reduced to getting a robust and sharp scraper and removing the top layer of the woodchip by hand, which then allows it to be steamed very easily. The chips turn into shrapnel when scraping though, I bought myself prescription safety specs!.

Also if there's woodchip then no matter what the walls need replastering, no-one ever puts it on walls that are in good condition. I have a house full of the stuff, fortunately I know a really good local plasterer..

    Dear All,

    FTB completed on 25-06-2019

    https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-69913090.html

We plan to remove the internal load bearing wall between the dining and the living so thought to remove the wallpaper from rest of the walls of the dining/living as the wallpaper for both the rooms is different.

Almost all the walls of the house are bumpy , wavy not in a good position, so need re plastering

One builder quoted me for removing wallpaper as follows

    Dining Room - £350
    Living Room - £350
Main Bedroom - £80 only one wall has wall paper
Second Bedroom £ 0 ( No wall paper)
    One small bedroom £300

Hall & Stairs ????? £400 approximately ( No idea as he took the measurements and said will send me the labor for that

So I am shocked as he is asking me for approx £1500 to only remove the wall paper from the whole house. (Plastering and painting job will be on top of it and I have no idea how much they will charge me for those jobs)

Are these look rates OK and reasonable?

Any suggestions / alternatives will be highly appreciated.

Any idea if i leave the wall paper as it is)
    :(:(:(:(

I think what i am going to suggest has been mentioned on MSE before but here goes.

If you have any friends, mates or relatives why not aske them to come round 1 weekend or just for Saturday or Sunday and buy some tools to remove the wallpaper and say you cant pay them money but you can supply beer, wine and takeawy pizza's or BBQ and that may save you 100's of pounds and should be done in a weekend.

Any ideas on how to remove the wall paper behind the radiators and on the areas near to the wall sockets.

I have never removed radiators to remove wallpaper. Just get as much off as you can and when repapering get it as far in as you can, using a radiator roller to smooth it out. The reality is that you have to adopt some strange positions to look behind a radiator and no one will notice that the entire wall isn't papered behind it.

I always remove the radiators. I'm very much of the "if it's worth doing, it's worth doing properly" school of thought, so I get walls replastered after removing the paper (absolutely necessary in my house) and repaint before the radiators go back on.

Yes, it's faff, but it only has to be done once and I'll know I've done a good job..

I find it easier to fill a hippo tub with water and use a paint roller to spread water over the walls. Much faster coverage than a steamer, IMO.

I use a 1l spray bottle and give the paper a good soak. Wait until it changes colour, then peel off. If the OP's wallpaper has been painted, things get a little more interesting..

Same here. Most radiators can be lifted off the mount brackets and pivoted down once the valve nuts have been ever so slightly slackened off.
