HSBC £50 switch payment

Hi ................
I switched my account to HSBC on 6th December 2018.
As well as £150 reward on opening account there was a payment of £50 paid after 6 months. Or so I thought. Reading the T & C's on their web site it says 2nd payment in 12 months. When I opened the account I wrote the details down and my notes say 6 months. Can anyone shed some light as to what the terms of the deal were in Dec 2018?

If I do a Google search for...

    HSBC switch offer £150 £50

...the 4th result (dated 10/9/18) gives me the answer you're looking for.

Next time maybe save a copy of the T&C's?

The last "6 month" offer was around 3 years ago I believe?

Not sure if this is the Ts & Cs page you were looking at but it is the one covering the offer applying to accounts opened up to 25 November 2018 and switched within 30 days thereafter: https://www.hsbc.co.uk/content/dam/hsbc/gb/pdf/hsbc-advance-account-200-switiching-offer.pdf

The answer clearly isn't the one you wanted:
    8. If you meet the requirements to qualify for the Further Offer Payment as described at clause 7, we will make the Further Offer Payment of £50 within the 30 day period beginning on the 12 month anniversary of the Eligible Account being opened.

This thread from that time also suggests that your notes were wrong: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5940632/hsbc-account-switch-cashback
  • Thanks all for confirming my thoughts. Question now is.... should I leave it set up to get the 50 and make better notes next time, or maybe just close account now (coz they're not a very good bank) Thanks again :j

You might as well keep it open until the 12 month incentive pays out - you don't actually need to use it to remain eligible for the offer!
