Returning house keys by post

Hello everyone,
My current landlord expects me to return the house keys, suitably wrapped, via recorded delivery.
My tenancy concludes 15th July 2019 and they are performing a review of the property on 16th July 2019.
This is the first occasion I have ever come across this approach and am resistant. I think is more for their convenience than mine. I have not had the best relationship with said landlord after he has breached my right to enjoy the peace and quiet of the property on at least one occasion.
Would I be within my rights to simply post the keys back through the letterbox as I leave on or before 15th?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Unless it states specifically in your contract that posting the keys back is a requirement, I would have thought putting them through the letterbox a much safer option, especially if you were intending to put a return address on the back of the envelope because that is just what you normally do... See where I'm going with this?0

Does your landlord have a key? If not through the letterbox will result in you pain for a gain access and lock change
If you post you can prove postage. If you put them through the letter box you cannot prove you did so.
Why don't you just meet your LL at the address and give them to him?0 -
I suspect that in asking you to return the keys to presumably the LL's nominated address by recorded delivery is so that they can then be used to let the LL or agent into the property youre vacating
Another case of a tight LL who only seems to have one set of keys for a property maybe.in S 38 T 2 F 50

What is your objection?
Is it the cost of recorded delivery and a padded envelope, plus the inconvenience of having to get to a post office?
Unless you really object to the cost and/or it's very inconvenient, I'd be tempted to do it, just to keep everyone happy.
(I frequently post keys and/or have keys posted to me.)
Obviously, don't put any indication outside or inside the envelope of the property address they relate to (so maybe use your new address as the sender's address).
Plus I typically include a note with my name and phone number with the keys - so that I can be phoned, if there's any confusion about what the keys are for (and obviously I would make sure I knew who I was talking to, before giving any details).0 -
Stick the keys in an envelope and send them at a Hermes Parcelshop. It'll only cost £2.26 and you'll get tracked delivery.0
