Bath Regret!!

Just in the process of replacing our very tired bathroom in our 1930s semi.

Sourced the bits online- We went for a Frontline Carrera double ended bath in 1700x700- used for both bathing and a shower over the end (rain head so has a long enough reach luckily)

It turned up yesterday and the inside is NARROW! The bottom measures 34cm...... it didnt even occur to me to check this measurement- I assumed being a 1700x700 it would be the same as all the others. The Carron version has a 450 bottom measurement :(

In my opinion it feels tight to stand in and shower but its only going in this week so I havent tried it for real as such yet.

Obvs buying a bath online means its nigh on impossible to return it!

Am I going to get used to this or regret it forever ha?!

You will get used to it, and all baths are moving towards holding a smaller volume of water as a water-saving feature.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Stand in it, lay in it, once it's fitted you with have zero chance of returning it, 1700x700 is a standard bath size plus a double ended bath will be slopped at both ends which means you are stood away from the end
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

Why? Just give the company a call, tell them the problem, ask for a solution. They will probably find you a bath that suits you, send it out and collect the current one. If they are any good they will just charge you delivery.

Not really - you have the distance selling regulations for this very reason. Your supplier details their return policy here: https://www.bellabathrooms.co.uk/delivery.html

Unless you actually need the extra volume, I'd be satisfied at the long term saving in water and heating bills. I have the opposite problem, an L shaped bath with a very broad end at the shower end and a pretty much square internal profile. To get a bath of just 9 inches deep takes ages to run and uses an enormous amount of water. As a result we just use the shower. One day I'll buy the bath equivalent of a cistern hippo to put in the broad end to take up some of the volume!

Corrected for clarification as the DSRs no longer exist :)

Sorry for the late reply chaps! Thank you all for your replies

The company dont list any alternatives that really suit unfortunately- my wife thinks im being daft anyway! The bathroom is in the process of being done so not sure another would arrive in time.

I'll guess ill just have to get used to it- Just feels snug stood in there with my feet pretty close together!

You could return it and try to get another one with the next day delivery if available with the selected supplier (i.e. select a store that does it). You'd lose some money on return costs but it's better than living with a bath you're not comfortable with.

That is narrow. My backside would jam half way down in one that narrow. Just checked our bath and it's at least 45 cm wide at the base.

A good plumbers merchants will get you a bath the next day, and if its a brand they regularly sell be able to tell you about the ins and outs of it. The pricing should be competative too (much cheaper than a Diy store in my experience, though a bit more than the best online deals).

Buying a second bath now will be cheap compared to ripping out to replace down the line. If for some reason you can't return the first bath (maybe its no longer saleable for some reason) you could re-coop some of the money selling it as nearly new and unused.

As others have said thou, be sure first; there are benfits to a narrower bath.
