O/S Daily Tuesday 2 July 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Bright sunshine this morning, I have a basket of washing to peg out, hopefully it will dry on the line.

DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my cuppa and porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was fish, chips, jacket potato, beans/mushy peas, I had baked fish and veg. Tonight will be roast chicken portions - probably with mash, veg and gravy.

As suspected work was absolutely manic yesterday - today may be similar as there's been a mail out - just not very well timed! My short day today so if it passes as quickly as yesterday I'll be happy.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning, the sun is shining and it looks as though it will be another lovely day.

At some point this week, I'll need to go shopping but it is not urgent, could do that on Thursday on my way back from a job but if I'm delayed, Friday will do.

I need to attack an overgrown shrub by the front door without ruining the shape, well it hasn't got uh of a shape really it is fine in dry weather but when it rains, you get a bit wet coming in and out.

I have scalp psoriasis and it is driving me potty at present, it comes in phases, it is always there but it has flare ups. I have had stuff from the doctor but it has never made much of a difference so if anyone knows of any remedy hat actually works, I'd love to know. I'm quite lucky in that it is at least under my hair, it doesn't show. I try not to scratch but do it without thinking. Still, this is hardly a major problem in the scheme of things.

Sending my best wishes to those who are struggling
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

I have scalp problems and I find it best to keep my hair fairly short, about shoulder length and thinned out, it's layered.
A hairdresser years ago told me that.
I always use ginger shampoo and conditioner (from the body shop not the cheap copy's)
it doesn't cure it but keeps it under control.
They will give you a sample if you ask

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A glorious start here - hope it lasts. Yesterday was a mix of sun, showers and strong wind. The wind has eased today so the sun may not get blown away!

I am missing my Tuesday coffee and lunch date today as my friend is away in Mexico enjoying glorious weather and scrumptious food. In the company of her family and DGD who teaches there.

So no plans for today. After my little bus ride along the valley bottom yesterday (and stocking up in Wilko!) I am staying put today and doing more pottering or, in other words, probably watching Wimbledon and reading!

I made Lentil soup from the gammon stock I cooked Sunday, so some of that will be my lunch with a salad bagel. Then tonight more of the gammon will be eaten, maybe with cheese in an omelette or in a carbonara type sauce with pasta.

Have a good day folks and thinking as always of the poorlies, sad, worried, lonely and MIA. Take care all xxx

    Morning folks.

The sore throat has morphed into a full blown cold. Apart from anything else I have to keep my distance from DM in case she catches it although it may be too late already - hope not.

AOD - the only shampoo to really control m psoriasis is, unfortunately, Head & Shoulders with the occasional use of Nizarol. The Body Shop stuff didn't work for me. I'm currently trying a 'vegan' tea tree and lemon shampoo to see if I can stop the H&S. The itching never goes away though the flaking / scabs seem under control.

Yesterday I tripped up and fell down at the tip. :eek:Didn't land on my sore right knee or hip but now I'm sore on both sides! Don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I told DM about clearing out her spice drawer, she said that she had planned to do it earlier this year and to go ahead. Next it'll be the tea cupboard- really, there is a cupboard full of different types of tea, all untouched and now unwanted. Such a shame.

Today I have bank accounts to juggle, an A mazon delivery to collect and a walk to take.

My thoughts are with all those struggling with life. Happy Tuesday to all.

It's quiet here today, I had to scroll down to find the thread. I hope everyone is out enjoying themselves.

Smear test this morning but apart from that I just have more deep cleaning planned (too late to call it a spring clean). Steve's feeling a lot better so he's continuing to relay the patio. We have visitors next week so we want to get it finished.

Morning all,bit cloudy but some sun.I'm popping into town shortly to bank a cheque for DH.Ly1a has had her walk but disgraced herself by chasing a neighbours cat into his back garden just as he had opened his side gate, her lead slipped out of my hand before I even realised the cat was there :eek:Luckily the cat was very agile and leapt over the fence leaving her with her lead all tangled up round her legs looking foolish.Neighbour was fine about it thankfully and we had a little chat in his nice back garden :o
Had a nice catch up with my friend yesterday, she is waiting for a knee replacement within the next 3 months.
Right better go and get ready for the bus.DH wants mince and chips for tea- very summery eh? :D
    Chuckling at the photo Gers.
    Hope all is well x

    Morning all,

Later check in from me as I am just back from the docs. I've been suffering from random dizzy spells for the last week or so and upon telling my mum, I was forced to make an appointment. Anyway, no further forward as I've to go back for an ECG and a blood test.

Been to the gym this morning and might even go again after work, depends when I wrap up. Failing that, it'll be a chilled night I recon.

Last night was consumed by yoga, which was once again really hard. I'm sweating buckets at it which is really rather embarrassing as there's people double my age around me with their legs behind their head as if it's nothing. Here I am, a gasping lad with literally a puddle underneath me!

I've also got a first date pencilled in for Saturday. Seems a cracking girl and she told me last night she has a 6 year old boy (she's a year younger than me). Not sure how I feel about this in all honesty. It's not ideal but if she's the one, then she's the one.

Yesterday was my first NSD and I suspect today will be another.

Gers - Just you be taking care of yourself! Also, quite an impressive archaeological find.
