Butlins as a single adult?

Has anyone recently been to Butlins as a single adult?

It looks like they've changed the rules about this since my last visit, but in some places it says they might refuse bookings by single adults and in other places it says it's definitely not allowed.

(I know its an odd choice for a single adult, and I fully understand why they might want to ban them, but for price and health-related reasons its probably the only holiday I can have.)

Not allowed on family breaks, but its ok on adult weekenders at Butlins

Maybe look at Warners, or Potters as a single adult

I booked a break last year at Skegness for me and three other adults, only ended up being two of us went, but it turned out to be their country music special week so whilst it wasn’t adult only it also wasn’t a normal term time week.

Butlins don't have single occupancy accommodation, so you'd be paying for two people anyway and it may be more expensive than you expect. However, if you're booking room only and not including a meal plan, this would mean that you could just put two names on the booking and be paying the same price.

We had a range of single adults staying while I worked at butlins (years!! but i did leave in 2015) both on family and adult breaks you wont be able to book for any of the "tots" breaks as you need to have a child under 5 (i think that's the age) on the booking. At butlins you pay for the accommodation so if you book a 4 person room the price is the same weather there is 1 person or 4 staying.
Thanks to money saving tips and debt repayments/becoming debt free I have been able to work and travel for the last 4 years visiting 12 countries and working within 3 of them. Currently living and working in Canada
  • book for 2 and just you turn up? Any issues at check in say your mate is on their way but you need to get into accommodation due to health reasons?
Im off to minehead in Oct if there is anything I can do to help let me know. Worst case perhaps you could book your own place as part of "my family" you wont even need to meet me lol. I understand what you mean tho a lot of disabled ppl go to butlins, everything is there its safe and a change of environment. I went with my disabled son for the first time in June, no idea why I didn't go before!
  • Ps you could also look at warner holidays x

Even if you book as a 2 person break and say one person hasnt arrived I think they would flag your reservation somewhere along the line and you may be asked to leave which would be rather embarrassing.

I know there are lots of single adults who are perfectly safe to be holiday in a child friendly place but unfortunately there are some that aren't and this spoils it for everyone else and Butlins should have quite strict safeguarding policies that they will need to follow.

As a side note though, Butlins really isn't the cheapest option out there as a single traveller. There are lots of other holiday parks that you could stay at that would have similar facilities like a pool and entertainment etc that would take your booking and that would be cheaper out of school holidays. Others have mentioned Warner too, or try Shearings, Alfa Travel

Sorry clicked it too soon then! Try Shearings, Alfa Travel, Just Go, National Holidays or David Urquhart for coach breaks where you can book a hotel with entertainment etc too and may be better value?

Dependent on where you are, lots of seaside hotels offer entertainment and things too so you could book into one of these for a better price?

I'm a bit gobsmacked by that. The idea that singletons pose a safeguarding risk and couples don't is ludicrous.

Quite! Most abuse is within families and close acquaintances. Perhaps Butlins should...
