problem with Samsung Ecobubble washing machine

Hi there,

I have one of these washing machines, 8kg, with addwash.

I have only had it for a couple of months. My daughter used it a couple of weeks ago when I was at work and messaged me to say that a small trickle of water had appeared from underneath, but she only noticed it on the 2nd wash.

That same night we pulled the washing machine out to check that it wasn't the tap or the waste pipe leaking - it seemed to be coming from underneath. Only by coincidence I opened the filter, which is on the bottom right of front of the machine and water poured out of it.

Last night I checked the filter again, after a few washes have been done (no more leaks though) and some more water came out. There is a small draining pipe next to the filter.

Has anyone ever had water come out of the filter before (My last machine was a Zanussi and this never happened to me in the 10+ years I had it).

The Samsung machine is fine in other ways, other than the panel where the stop/start button is being over sensitive, so it's easy to accidentally touch it with your clothing.

Thanks in advance.

The whole point of the drain pipe next to the filter is exactly that, to drain the machine before opening the filter. Did you check for blockages when you removed the filter? Is water still leaking out?

Many years back I had water leak from under my Bosch WM and it turned out the wire from a bra had punctured the rubber drain gasket. I found the wire lodged in the filter when I checked. When I got the replacement gasket from a local supplier they told me that this is a very common cause for water leaks from WMs.

    Thanks for your reply.

I didn't know you had to use the drain pipe to drain the filter - my old machine didn't have such a thing and the filter never had any significant water come out of it. The instruction book says the pipe is for emergency draining in the event of a power failure.

I have tried to go on the chat on the Samsung website, but was no.1 in the queue for ages - then when I tried to email, that failed.

It's too late to do anything else now, so I will try again tomorrow.

My old LG had the drain pipe, if you tried to open the filter without draining it you would end up with water all over the floor.

I have a new Samsung but haven't checked the filter yet, when I do i will use the drain pipe first.

Ok, so I did mine yesterday, just as well, I found some interesting stuff in there!

I have to admit it is poorly designed compared to the LG. You do have to use the tube first, but unlike the LG it doesn't pull out anymore than 3 inches, and it's certainly not as long as the one in the video below, which means you have to take the little door off to get a container under it to drain it in to.
