Combining multiple wins in 1 package - tracking?

Options
Hi :)
I was wondering if a buyer wins more than 1 item from me, how should i go about posting them so that i am covered from claims of non-receipt? Do i need to send in different parcels each with their own tracking number, or will one tracking number suffice for each of the items posted together?
Thanks!

What is the cost of each item?

Once they have paid for the items, to be covered, you need to send separate parcels each with their own tracking number is the correct answer.

If they ask for a combined postage invoice then you can issue that, they pay it and you will be covered for the items on the combined invoice/tracking (as only one parcel). You need to enable combined invoice on your account first - https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/getting-paid/sending-invoices-buyers?id=4139

Having said the above, I have occasionally just combined a couple of items and took a chance to save some postage but you are only covered for the item you raised the tracking on.

    Before I do this
    • I'll look at their feedback - total number
    • Their buyer feedback to see if they look like a problem buyer
    • I also take account of how long they have been on Ebay
    • Potential profit on each item i.e. large amount on each then send separately
    • Finally, think if the value of the items warrants sending separately (insurance costs)

to give me a 'gut feel' of how much scam risk I am under. So far, so good, not been scammed once but I only tend to do this maybe 3-4 times a year.

Note this last method is a risk but only you can decide if it is worth saving a few quid on postage vs. possibly getting scammed.

It is possible to add the same tracking number to more than one order, that's what I do, then I just send together. Most of my items are BINs so I can't do the 'send invoice before payment' method.

I think this is a new thing, you certainly didn't used to be able to do that. but you can now

I think it is new. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could add the same shipping number to a second item last week.

I've done it for the last few years - probably 6 or 7 at least (whenever RMT came into being for business users).
  • I've always sent them separate to be honest, but that's only because if someone has bought multiple items, they have never asked to combine the postage and because they have therefore paid the p&p for each of the items, I just sent them separate.
