Previously unfound PPI

Just under a year ago Gladstone Brookes did a PPI check with Blackhorse for some car loans. Blackhorse initially said they couldn't find anything. I have received a letter from Blackhorse today to say they have now located several loans which we had PPI on. They have wrote to Gladstone Brookes to inform them too. However I'm wondering if it has been so long now do we still have to go through Gladstone or can we pursue ourselves. The lady at Blackhorse suggested if it is over 6 months ago we can just go direct but I don't know how true this is.
Thanks
Thanks

I'd be interested to know the answer to this as we're in the same boat, I can't even remember the name of the PPI company tbh and the letter we've had from Lloyds hasn't been cc'd to anybody.....0

My understanding of it, is the initial PPI check is free.
Only if something is found, and you sign a document allowing the claims company to act on your behalf, does a contract then exist between you.
If you didnt sign anything, then you are free to pursue it yourself for free.
From their website :
"Where PPI is, or may have been, present, we will advise you and look to offer you our PPI CLAIM service. If you accept this offer, the terms of the PPI CLAIM service will apply. If you decline the PPI Claim service, we will close the matter at no charge".I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. If Gladstone Brooks closed the complaint then their service ended at that point.0
