Which powerline would be good for an Xbox , TV box and maybe the smart tv all upstairsin my sons room
The max length of cable from the powerline to device's will be 2mtrs
There is aslo a smart TV and a google home mini which can be just wifi
Our BB is fibre 76mb
No phone sockets up stairs.
All internet devices down stairs are wired to the router.
I have found these two and now i dont have a clue on which one and why is one nearly double in price?
Thanks for you advice

Neither would be a good idea for such a short distance where you could use an Ethernet cable, which would be much simpler, more reliable and cheaper!

    KISS

Ethernet cables do not use electricity.

For 2 mtrs a powerline adapter is overkill when you can just use a ethernet cable as they go upto 10m lengths for a lesser cost.

    Even so .
    Look at cabling first .
  • Five years back I laid out Ethernet cables in our house and ditched wifi and these powerline things. Recently on doing up our lounge, I ran another length of Ethernet to the TV things! Fully reliable and it works!

I got into powerlines precisely because I wanted to avoid running unsightly cable from the router to equipment upstairs.

I run 2 TVs, a laptop and a pc, still using the ones I bought nearly 20 years ago. They are so low spec that you can’t buy them any more, but they work fine. But then I still get my internet down the phone line and I don’t do gaming.

I’ve just donated two spare ones to a friend so that he can connect his TV to a router on a different floor. They work fine for him too.

My entirely non geeky, total lack of knowledge response would be to get the best spec you can.

one problem with those is they are 2 port,

If having more devices hard wired upstairs you will need more kit.

I got a Develo 500 and 500 triple that had 3 ports but got connection issues never did track it down to the PC, the power lines or the router.

Since replaced as the(500 single port died)with TPlink av600(the pa4010 kit for £5 B&M clearance) and no problems for a week.

problem is they are single port so might try the 3port again with the TP-link at the other end.

I tend to go with discount/clearance stuff when not needed latest speeds.

I use Powerlines for a short diostance, I wasn't going to start moving furniture just to lay some ethernet cable. When I do move I will give running ethernet cable more of a consideration.

Powerline can have problems if the 2 ends are on different ring mains. After performance and stability problems with powerline and with simple wifi extenders I now use a BT mesh system (other mesh systems are available) and everything works perfectly throughout the house with minimal loss of speed.

I cant see ethernet cabling as a simple alternative unless you want dangling wires everywhere or a major redecoration. Of course if you want serious high speed comms within your network then its the best way but that really is more of a commercial need than one for the normal home user.
