Of course property should be taken into account. Property can be bought and sold. Property is part of your wealth.

Yup, I'm 62. Bought my first property in 1979 for under 20,000. Terraced houses in the street in Brighton where I first bought are now in the 450-500K range. Property was much more affordable when I started out, although Brighton was nowhere near as "trendy" as it is now.
