Contacting Landlord directly

My lease is up on my flat in September I have let he managing agents know that I will be moving out.

I have an operation scheduled for the last week I will be living there, so I have asked the letting agents to ask the landlord if I can move out a month earlier, providing they find another tenant so no financial loss to the landlord or hold over for a month afterwards.

I have chased twice on this but they have said that they are waiting for the landlord to come back to them.

I am dubious that they have actually contacted him as with any other issues he has normally responded straight away (he is in China), they are also probably the worst letting agents I have dealt with to date.

Can I contact him directly to discuss ?

    If you have his contact details, why not? He is your landlord. You have a contract with him.

    Have you actually given notice?

    If not would it not be easier to go onto a periodic tenancy and stay there while you recover then move later?
