HSBC Homebuyer Report Cost

Hi
I'm going through HSBC mortgage application for a house we've had an offer accepted on. The valuation is free - a homebuyers report is being quoted as £563.
I went through the same process around 12 months ago for a property - the prices for homebuyers (again through HSBC) was £250. So this quote is more than double.
The previous property value was 300K. This one is 380K so a little more, but the price increase seems pretty exorbitant?
A quick quote through localbuildingsurveyor.co.uk comes in at around £400 for survey (without valuation) to use a local firm.
Does anyone know how HSBC price their surveys and why this one would be so much more expensive?
Many thanks.

why are you limited to getting a homebuyers with HSBC, use your own preference. Also if they find something the lender will know, at least an independent one they won't know and not something they can put a retention on if you want to do it later"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Ring 3or 4 local RICS surveyors and talk to them. Not just to get a price but to get an idea of how helpful they will be in interpreting the report they write etc.0

Don't get your homebuyer report done by HSBC. It'll normally be done by a valuer with some knowledge of building surveying but often not enough.
Get in contact with an experienced, dedicated building surveyor instead.0
