Sorry didn't realise i should have posted in credit cards,as that isn't what it is about
My credit history is good, no IVAs /bankruptcy defaults , .late payments etc, i have always paid cash until i needed 2 big items close together, if i paid by 0% credit card at least i wouldn't be paying huge interest fees, and could transfer balances onto another 0% card, and pay more than minimum payment with no interest
Anyway thanks everyone for replies and input,i will consider all suggestions
Edited to say, yes i know i am still in debt but its a debt i am paying, not missed any payments

I couldn't believe they wouldn't accept credit cards, surely they do in store so why not to pay a balance,it seems they would rather not be paid at all
No, surprisingly they do want to be paid.

They just don't want to continue to pay fees to get their money back, especially having already funded your finance offer.

It's absolutely standard not to pay credit with credit. There's a couple of exceptions but Argos aren't one of them.

This is what all credit card providers are following.

There are many threads about it.

'excellent' credit rating isn't worth the electricity used to power your pc, phone etc to view it. It's the content of your credit history is amount of available credit, credit applications, late/missed payments, defaults, CCJs, IVA, bankruptcy, DRO etc financial institutions see and base their decision to lend, or not, on.

Thanks nice what's the cost Uk calculator.
This matches up with Cap1+Aqua repayment tools.
As I know , largest Aqua balance is going to be almost 2 years 10months to clear with current just above minimum payments, though I intend to increase this late 2019/earlier 2020.
Excellent SC description of these new rules, much less frightening than the initial letters from card providers.
Certainly finding it much simpler to understand what providers are trying to achieve.
Maybe they should stop providing a few K per card for moderate/low earners who have no hope of paying off a large purchase in full each month.

Hi, just seen this, so answered your pm first,

I dont just pay minimum payment, but usually about £7-10 more, i think my minimum payment is around £13, so why they are saying i only pay minimum i dont know,i always have paid more
I am a bit worried about spending on a credit card at all, as i just have my pension, and find it easier that way, but i pay £80 a month for fuel[,gas and electric] which is a bit more too than asked for,

I dont drive, but also have house insurance, pet insurance for 1 dog and 3 cats, so as you can see most of my money is going on DD
I was actually shocked when told it would take 14 years,to pay off by minimu payment,it is the high interest, that is causing it
I couldn't believe they wouldn't accept credit cards, surely they do in store so why not to pay a balance,it seems they would rather not be paid at all, which is what i feel like doing,to be honest i was so annoyed, also to be classed as being in debt

I've PMd you again just to re-explain how using your 0%-on-purchases card instead of your debit card will effectively allow you to switch the Argos debt over to your credit card - hope it makes sense because it really should help you.

Also, why are you over-paying for your gas and electric? As long as you are keeping up with your consumption (or are averaging out your annual consumption) that's all you should be doing. Giving your energy supplier the benefit of your extra money is allowing them to borrow from you interest-free, or like you putting money into a savings account that doesn't pay you any interest.

How far in credit are you with your energy supplier?

Of course it will take years to pay it off if your only paying a little over the minimum payment. They have to add interest on.

As soon as you buy anything on credit your in debt until you pay it off
