Hi Rachel
What I have seen suggested before is.....
Do you have a friend who you could cook for one night and they could cook the next night? Saves you eating the same thing twice in a row and you also halve your cooking. Don't know if that would be viable. I don't mind eating the same thing and dd is too little to either know that she doesn't or to say anything about it.

Hi I'm in exactly the same situation, and plan to spend around £50/month on food & cleaning products. Toiletries I tend to buy in bulk when on offer from Boots, or I buy with the points on my AC. When I was living as a couple we budgeted £100 per month and usually only spent around £75-£80 with the rest going on a takeaway as a treat.
I don't have any freezer space at all so shop once a week, meal planning before I go and sticking to my list. To avoid things getting repetitive I have something different each night of the week (Mince based, Chicken based, On Toast, Fish Based, Pasta Based, Sausage based, Jacket Potato) and any leftovers I eat for my lunch the next day (I'm careful to only cook small quantities at a time so nothing gets wasted as I can't freeze things)
Hope this helps a bit, and :grouphug: - it feels rubbish doesn't it?!0 -

My dear Dad was very much like yourself when my Mum died- did not know how much to cook-what to cook etc,how much to buy-takes a bit of time and experimenting to get it right!
But then he started to cook "proper"meals for himself, freezing left over portions and always treated himself to a bottle of wine at the weekend.
I think he found it easier to cook and eat on his own when he got rid of the kitchen table and installed a breakfast bar so his meals seem always to be relaxed with the papers around him and a radio on in the background.
We always go round on a Sunday now for a huge Sunday lunch and that has happened for the past 13 years and only then do we sit at the table in the dinning room-in fact my kids rate my Dad a better cook than me!Crazy Clothes Challenge 2012 £57.20/£100,CCC 2013 £68.67/£100 ,CCC 2014 £94.32/£100
