We are nearly in July and you have had no leave? I don't think so.

Look, you come first. Stop worrying about the employer. If you have a chance of a better job, you go for it. If that means calling sick or saying you have a flood etc etc.

    You come first.

HI missmarie, when i say no leave this year i mean from April new leave year.
You are right i am just too loyal for my own good and it's harder as i have a life long friendship with the owner x
It'a just not the job for me even though i have been doing well.
    Thank you
  • OP people attend interviews and change job everyday. If you've got a block of interviews to attend make it for the same day and put in for a day off.

If it's just one interview just say you have a doctor or dentist appointment. In that instance though best to make it first thing or last thing in the day to look less conspicuous.

A colleague of mine once told us she had an appointment at the bank when attending an interview on her own lunchtime. Now that IS overthinking it.
Started out with nothing, still got most of it left.

The more information you give, the more suspicious you'll sound. Book it off, if they say no, say it's for a job interview and go anyway. Everyone needs time off for interviews, otherwise people would stay in the same role forever. They have little recourse if you're a good employee anyway.

I've lost count of the number of interviews I've had whilst in my current workplace but would imagine it to be at least 40, that would have been a lot of annual leave wasted had I booked it off for all those interviews.

    40 interviews?

My personal preference is to book time off, that way you aren't rushed to get there at the end of the day, still in your regular work clothes or uniform
The opposite of what you know...is also true

I really wouldn't say it's for a medical appointment. What will you say if you're asked how it went? and what will you say the next time? Or when the actual medical appointment comes through?

Thanks all it's usually a week or two. I have had an operation and i am due a 6 week follow up so i was thinking i would tie that in?
Also if i get the job it's references pending and i'm sure she will say no hand your notice in now? Can she make me?
It's so diffcult in a small buisness with no hr that's why i'm going back (hopefully) to the nhs fingers crossed.
Thanks all i appreciate it x

Just to answer that - no she cannot make you resign but she could refuse to provide a reference.

I also recall asking whether the part-time work would count towards your two years of employment. They would as long as there was no gap of a week (including two Saturdays) between the part-time and full-time contracts.
