I was asking should I bring it up with my boss - because I can’t breathe through my nose, it irritates me, gives me a headache and makes me non productive at work.
Offices are never perfect environments. There's always a smell, a noise, a flickering light, wrong temperature etc etc.
Office workers need to learn to cope with this kind of stuff.
I think if you say to your boss that a smell makes you unproductive she might well question whether you are suitable to work in the office at all. I would.0 -

I’m not sure why you are so determined to spin the medical problem issue, when it’s not. Medical treatment for sweating doesn’t include strong smelling sprays, it includes Botox, medicated roll on deodorant etc.
I just like to think about both sides of the coin to be honest....
Anyways, just speak to your boss. If you have health concerns then put them out there! Also, have a look at your handbook and see what it says about this; you might be able to point out some rule that your manager is neglecting.0 -
@ OP - Get over it and move on, would you rather him smelling of BO? Can't win with people these days, people like to moan at the smallest things. Least he is taking pride in his appearance!!0

Wow so much negativity.
People don’t need to have a ‘shower in a can’ and BO is avoidable: no one else on the team smells.0 -
Hi swingaloo such poor form to eat smelly fish at your desk. And instead of praising me for working around that issue, you decide to say I’m the issue? Vic’s can’t be smelt.0

You really do have olfactory problems - Vics reeks to high heaven! Maybe your colleagues find that far more offensive to their noses than this poor chap and his attempts to maintain personal freshness.0 -
The OP is like Norris Coll. The busybody off Coronation Street.0

A workplace that stinks of both tuna AND Vicks.... I'd get my swimming nose clip out!!;)How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0

Working with children, it can get pretty pungent at times. You soon get used to it though. In fact my tolerance for bad smells is quite high now, in fact my wife often mentions it (for example in a queue etc.) before I notice. I think it's something you do get used to so my advice is to persevere. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
