    My sympathies.

    If the bank is willing to pay funeral expenses direct to the funeral director then I would go down that route.

    I know others have recommended a 'public health funeral', but note that - if you opt for burial rather than cremation - not only would you not be able to put a gravestone on your mums's grave, but it's extremely unlikely that your dad could be buried with her when his time comes.

    I went through court of protection and it took 6 months.
    There is an emergency process but I believe that paying a funeral bill would not be considered an emergency.

    Applying through the court takes ages as there are about a dozen forms.
    Start with the one the GP needs to do as they GP might take a couple of weeks to fit that in with their schedule.
