In spending news...just treated myself to a pair of North Face walking shoes.

Usual price £115, but £75 in the Blacks sale!! 😁

I have proper boots, but wanted something more lightweight, but still waterproof, for trails.
My how reckless  :D,  I hope @cfw1994 approves of you purchasing at sale prices  :p

Ooh that’s a good price. I have Berghaus hill walker boots for the coast path and Dartmoor but could do with some lightweight waterproof walking shoes. Not tried North face before though.

I bought the "Sakura" model.  They're my first pair of this brand too.

They felt very comfy in the shop...let's hope they are after 5+ miles!!
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)
  • Wow that's a lot of nuts!!!!    I don't think you have anything to worry about in regards to affording retirement.

    I don’t think so either.

My husband has the dual disadvantage of really not being interested in investment, and very concerned about the possibility of one or both of us needing care for pote tidally a very long time.  Hence he pushed the IFA hard on the cash flow and stress testing thing.

I had a much simpler approach.  I  worked out what the withdrawal rate from our pot would be to give what we will eventually get from our DB’s, which was more than we were currently living on (because we had both moved from better paying into lower paying work in mid life).  It was about 2.5%.  So I reckoned we could afford it.

Nice! I never manage to get footwear in the sale as I have long skinny feet. I can get ladies running shoes in a 10 but walking boots in a 10 1/2 have to be men's and almost all are far too wide.

Out of interest, when you said

Did you mean another part of THIS forum (MSE) or another forum entirely, if so where?

Surely talk of my nuts hasn't made it beyond here!!! 😲
