council tax is my big issue, no control over it and it keeps rising by around 5% per annum. Currently I pay around £2100 for a Band D property. It's just my opinion and not advice.0

I suppose it comes down to two things.
1. Have you done pretty much everything you wanted to within any given annual spend amount?
and
2. Is your budget a "hard" one to which you must stick, or is it fluid enough to absorb any extras that tickle your fancy!?!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -
Ours in not much less, same band.SouthCoastBoy said:council tax is my big issue, no control over it and it keeps rising by around 5% per annum. Currently I pay around £2100 for a Band D property.

Band B and a little under £1600. Given the above CPIH inflation increases in quite a few things (broadband is CPI+3.9%), I'm beginning to wonder whether shadow inflation may actually be real...SouthCoastBoy said:council tax is my big issue, no control over it and it keeps rising by around 5% per annum. For us the answers to these are essentially 'yes' and 'no' (which is a nice place to be)Sea_Shell said:I suppose it comes down to two things.
