Contract for services

Options
Hi, I had a contract with a dog walker and I have cancelled due to a dispute at the times he was being walked. I am having issues getting a refund and have lost my copy of the contract. So far she is refusing to acknowledge my request for a copy. Do I have any legal standing or right to get a copy?

I’m not sure you do. Have you written to her to ask?

Ultimately, if you took her to court, it might not reflect well on her that she refused to act in good faith.

How much are we talking about?

Ultimately she'd have to produce the contract if she wanted to rely on it in court.

Contracts don't need to be in writing so there may not be a paper copy.

You admit you had a contract so that's good enough, actions such as payments to them back up the proof of this contract.

You simply aren't allowed in law to just cancel a contract without penalty unless you can prove a breach of this contract.

You might have to rely on your recollection of what the contract said to assert breach of contract. I expect that if you assert something that is not in the contract she will tell you this quickly,
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Exactly what are you requiring a refund of?
How did you come to dispute this and how far back are you asking for a refund?
