My father has been awarded Attendance Allowance a few weeks ago and its the day rate - he has today gone into Permanent Residential Care with us self funding whilst his house sale goes through having read a bit seems if you self fund the allowance continues but was wondering if thats so I wondered if he is now in full time care whether we could apply to get the full day and night rate??

Yes AA is still paid if you are self funding, but it is usual for someone who needs to be in a care home to receive the highest allowance. Possibly your care home manager could help give you some indication of what he can & can't do. The problem with claims done by the claimant themselves is that they do not want to acknowledge the number of things they are really not capable of doing.0
