I would just leave things as they are, the interest will be insignificant in the overall cost of your trip.
"The new card "APR is likely 19.9% equivalent to 1.66 per month per £100 cash withdrawn. I agree it is insignificant for many people. But for those who withdraw cash of £1,000 (say) it will be £16.60 a month
In the developing countries some people prefer to pay in cash than creditcard to pay item of less than £100 (say) in shops, public places to avoid wasting time keep monitoring your bank account for fraud or double billing. What I did previously is once I withdraw, I log in with mobile app straight away and transfer money from my current account to credit card account.
Certainly need to avoid using public wifi or hotel.
With mobile banking and UK-Three simcard it is just a matter of a few minutes to complete the task and it will just cost less than 10p (1p per MB). People who do not use mobile banking could still use internet banking from tab / laptop using hotspot from Mobile phone with three simcard.
People will need Mobile internet on their trip abroad anyway. As far as I am aware no UK mobile network could beat three for internet roaming abroad, especailly in many non-eu countries
http://www.three.co.uk/support/roaming/vietnam#paygHi,
I have just seen this on the website:
Interest charges apply to cash you take out, from the day the cash is withdrawn
Yes. Depending the amount of cash you need to withdraw, it might be insignificant as previous example £100 is just £1.66 a month (insignificant)
But if you withdraw £1,000 in total (say) it will cost you about £16.60 a month (depending on your card APR) for interest alone if you leave until the next statement date.
But if you insist on using your claritycard and try to avoid interest the method that explained above will help you to avoid/minimise interest.
Mobile internet with UK- three simcard for Vietnam it is just 1p per 1MB0 -
Just to update this.... It's not long until I go now.
I went and got myself one of those Starling accounts for cash withdrawals so that I do not need to worry about paying the credit card as soon as it appears on the account.
I will use my clarity card for purchases as much as possible and just withdraw money as and when i need it.0 -
You always can use your Clarity credit card to top up your Revolut card ( if you have one) and use it for cash withdrawals in case you need cash. Your Clarity card statement will show it as Online/phone/mail order purchase and no fee will be charged.
That is what I normally do abroad - I use my Clarity for purchases and Revolut ( topped up with Clarity ) for cash withdrawals.0
