This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning :)

Up early thanks to to scum bags knocking bins over on the way back from a very long and drunken night out. Couldn't get back to sleep so I'm up and enjoying another beautiful morning.

Yesterday I got really focused in the morning and cracked off everything that needed to be done so that I could enjoy an afternoon working on my B+Q paint chart :) I even managed to get a new piece of work....not till August mind buts good to get them in the bag. The bedding was done and back on so I need to do the spare this weekend too ready for July visitors.

Today I have an eye test this morning and a hair cut this afternoon. Bit concerned with the eye test as my left eye is clouding up lots so goodness knows whats happening there. Dont like the hairdressers either...its not them they are lovely but I really hate the process ....needs must though I now have horrid shapeless long hair that needs a good hack at :)

We do have a few missings at the moment...OL and taff to mention a couple. Hope they are back soon. nanny should be back soon too I hope.

Anyway have a great day all and may the sun keep shining on you

Good morning, and thanks Nelski for starting off.

The weather looks promising, the forecast is good, gives us a rest from the rain.
Yesterday was ok, did what I'd planned to do. I got washing dry, but of course the ironing pile is building.

Had a good afternoon at cardmaking - there were only 2 of us, plus our "leader", who has started making Christmas cards. Sorry folks, for mentioning that word.. She makes lovely cards, and sends a lot, hence her early start.

I'm meeting 2 friends at Dob*ies this morning, we meet every couple of months, so it'll be natter, natter. Out tonight at another friends, more natter.

Dd and partner are having a sort of garden party tomorrow, no particular reason, they just are, and I'm doing cheeses and meats to take so will nip out early to the supermarket before I go to Dob*ies.. The weather will be good anyway. just what she was hoping for, so everyone can sit in the garden.

Sorry to hear you've an eye problem Nelski, hope it's nothing serious.

Thinking of the sad and poorly people, and those struggling with life generally.

    Take care folks xx

    Morning everyone

Nelski - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Cloudy start but dry - the days seem to start like this then the sky clears for sunshine - I have a load in WM - I'll peg it out once it's finished. I did so many wash loads yesterday I lost count but did find the bottom of the basket in the afternoon. It's now empty again but for how long!

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, my fish was just plain baked with mixed veg. Tonight will be something easy - will sort that whilst at the SM.

Yesterday I got stuck in with getting my "to do" list done and got done what I wanted, I do need to do some ironing today.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks NELSKI. Bah to scumbags waking you up. Good luck at the opticians, that's quite worrying.

Cloudy this morning but sun forecast by lunchtime so the Friday Tidy should get done whilst it's a bit cooler. The bedrooms never got done last week so they must get done today. Plus I must strip my bed and get the linen in to wash. Then there will be the usual battle of me versus the SK duvet.

The girlies are still fast asleep but will be to rouse up shortly and get organised for school. Let the fun begin.

DD sent me a whatsapp of a bird bath she was looking at and did I want her to get it. It looked ok in the box so I said yes. Now it's in situ I'm not over-keen but I'm sure the birdies will appreciate it in the hot weather that's ahead of us.

Well folks must dash. Have a good day and enjoy the good weather if you can. SNOOZER I think Laura made a wise decision in this heat and in her condition not to go to Glastonbury. Thinking of all the poorlies and carers and MIA. Take care all xx

Wow, it's been hot here! It was 28 degrees when I left work yesterday and set to be hotter today. It's lovely and cool this morning with a breeze, I'm sure the cloud will burn off soon.

It's the last day of term at last, we finish at 1pm. Hopefully there wont be any stragglers left, the parents have had a reminder every day!

Just had an email to say I can check in online, I'll do it at work so I can print anything I need to. Can't believe it's so close, really must do some packing tonight.

Do you want a laugh? I arranged for a friend to pick me up from Sydney airport on Sunday morning, we were going for breakfast and then my best friend who I'm staying with was going to meet us at the beach for brunch - checked my ticket last night and I don't get there until Monday morning!

Glad your legs have been seen to dumpling, hope the MH team get themselves sorted soon.
Pleased to hear your DM has eaten a little Gers.
How are you getting on Csarina?

Hope you all manage to stay cool today, take care. XX

Morning all and thank you for starting today's thread Nelski. I hope the optician visit goes well and I share your feelings about the hairdresser.

    Camelot, how exciting!

Yesterday I did masses of washing and some ironing but there is more of that to do today, and I need to go to the optician to get new nose pads on my specs.

Like Nelski, I was offered a new piece of work yesterday so need to get on with some prep for that.

We are forecast another fine day so once I've done what I must I can get out in the garden.

Sending best wishes for those who are unwell, sad or worried.

    Morning everyone.

It's so warm already, looks set to get hotter.

There's nothing on the agenda for today apart from DM's GP phoning mw much later. She's good at keeping in touch, I'm going to ask her to see DM next week.

My final pay is in my account, more than I expected so I'll email the uni to find out why. My access to the online HR site has gone so I can't check that way.

I had a night of tossing and turning worrying about DM, her situation and my response to it. I'm aiming for 'realistic' and 'accepting', on the outside at least. Trouble is that the 'inside' is leaking out.

As the day is clear I try to catch a couple more hours of sleep.

Hugs to those who need them. Happy Friday to all.

    Good morning everyone,

Happy Friday!! Is it just me or has this week flown in?

Yesterday I left work 'early', which is still past my contracted hours but it felt like a half day. The weather was great. A bit too great actually as our office was pipping hot and made for really uncomfortable working. Left work to have my weekly granny catch up which I done whilst walking round a local park. Home for a simple dinner and get some odds and ends tied up too.

Bought some clothes in the ASOS sales, which my mum will give me money for as my birthday (late next month). One item I bought was a really thick, good quality winter jacket for £20, so I hope it fits. Bargain!

Gym again this morning thanks to my new alarm! Dumpling - hahaha, I wish I had done it in the morning but i'm brimming with good intentions during the middle of the day! No plans this evening apart from giving the flat a right good deep clean in advance of my DB + GF visiting tomorrow. She's vegan so I think I am going to make a sweet potato satay to satisfy everyone.

Camelot - Thank god you checked. Have a wonderful trip when it comes!
Gers - I hope you're doing ok. Take care of yourself.

  • Things are going ok here. I collected OH last Friday and brought him home.

As I suspected he has made a rapid recovery, far quicker than last year when we had help up to Christmas.

He showered himself this morning and dressed, he is now pottering in the garden for as long as I will let him. Probably half an hour.

I am a bit under the weather, not sleeping too well just now......hope things settle down soon.

Cleaner is back from her hols on Monday thank heavens, I have done my best but the bungalow could do with bottoming.

OH has requested the usual fish and chips tonight, he is eating smaller portions at the moment. I made a jelly with rasps yesterday so more of that for dessert.
