cookie54 wrote:so you are suggesting parking in the streets of Crawley whilst you go on your holiday's-that's nice for the resident's who have a car parked right outside their house for 2 weeks!! I live in Crawley and parking around Three Bridges is at a premium at the best of times-there is alway's a on going problem with people who commute up to London and leave their car in the streets. We live 2o minutes walk from Three Bridges and have people who have left their car outside our house for 3 weeks!! another time somebody parked so awkwardly we struggled to get out of our driveway!!
Sorry if I'm moaning but have a thought for local resident's who suffer from this ongoing problem...If I was flying from another airport-like Heathrow-I would like everybody else have to pay for parking-it's part of the cost of going on holiday!!!
from a moaning cliff!!!
Remind me if there is a law about parking legally outside someones house.I had thought that the road tax cover's you to be there.Of course obstructing
someones drive is not on.Parking in a disabled bay also is wrong. But you can phone to have it removed by the authorities. In anycase if you really are frustrated by vehicles parking outside your house then you should see if you can have a driveway built.Failing that you could always move house.I bet you are really lucky not having a yellow line or lines outside your house.Think
of all that lovely free parking you are getting.Maybe you should lobby the council to have a permit put n so that it would then cost you at least £50 for the first vehicle you own. That will keep you happy in not having the holiday makers park there.I am trying to save him money. The same money you save for getting free parking yourself.Rant over.0 -

Depending on your flight times I would drop the family at the airport(departures are upstairs) then drive for approx two-three miles to Langley Green(residental area)and get the bus service which takes approx 15 minutes to the airport.
Sorry, but I feel this is a totally irrisponsible attitude. It may not be illegal but it is morally wrong.

I'm wondering whether you are also unhappy with people who have more than one car in the household.Maybe you yourself live in a small road where places are limited.Would you love to see your car outside your house every night? When you acquired your house did you also get the highway? It sounds like you own it,without legally owning it.Should this be a totally irresponsible attitude,as you say.In a way it's taking your space but it's not really yours to take in the first place.Save yourself £100+ for a two week holiday and park in Crawley instead of those high airport parking charges. But watch out someone behind a net curtain may just be watching you...0 -
I live in Horley (about 100 metres from the gatwick parimiter!) and will have an unused designated parking spot outside my flat which anyone is welcome to use in return for 200 duty free Camel lights
any takers?0 -

I would NEVER park my car in langley green! Just not a nice place, sorry.Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0 -

i work in crawley & i honestly wouldnt park in the streets(there or anywhere else) for 2 weeks once the locals see an unknown car in the streets for any time they think its either an unmarked police entrapment car or some idiots parked there while they've gone on holiday lets help ourselves. this by the way isnt exclusive to crawley
all the best

Many thanks for all the suggestions. finally decided to book one way car rentals from National car rental, they do not charge for drop off in other locations and cost starts £30.50 ( web price) each way for a small car, I booked economy size which is good enough for 4 persons and two to three cases. This worked out cheaper than any car parks or overnight stay and no hassle of waiting for transfers when you arrive.
