Moneyback Debit Cardds

Hi

I am currently looking for a new current account. I'm ideally looking for moneyback debit accounts. I know that Halifax offer an account; 1% on the first £10,000 [on purchases] But are there any other accounts. I already hold an Egg Money account.

Hlaifax is the only one to have cashback on debit cards. You have to pay in £1000 a month to qualify and it pays 1% upto £10000 on most spending.

I use it for house hold stuff like shopping, petrol, meals out etc and have accrued £48 in 9 months. I calculated it was better to have the cash back rather than a high interest account as the cash back still worked out higher.

Better still, do all your spending on a Capital One 4% cashback card, and leave the cash in the high interest account. Best of both worlds. Make sure you pay the credit card bill in full each month.

Trouble is Capital one are very choosy about who they give their 4% CC card to. Even people with good credit records get turned down. Also the 4% is only for a short period after which it goes down to 1%. Also, some places charge a CC surcharge (eg travel agents) thus wiping out any cashback, but with the cashback debit card there is no surcharge.
