in Cutting tax
Hi there,
I have recently discovered that my tax code has been wrong for about 4 years after having left a job where I received employee health care as a benefit. I am currently on 1229L and have no employee benefits. If I contact HRMC, will this mean I owe them money, or that they (fingers crossed) owe me money? (Naturally I don't want to shoot myself in the foot).
Just for a bit of info, I earn 25k a year roughly before tax and my tax code has always been that percentage below the threshold since I received the employee benefits in my previous job. Was it my duty to inform the tax people that I no longer receive these benefits and would it affect me getting any money back that I didn't (If I am due money).
Thanks for any and all help,
Peter.

From what you've posted you would be due a refund of approx £40 for each full tax year you've not received any company benefit.
The year the benefits ended might be different if there was some benefit received.
Which year did you last receive a P11D for?0 -
it is your duty to check your own tax code
your failure to do so will in no way impact the refund you are due when you finally get round to doing what you should have done and contact HMRC0
