Firstly I apologise if this is in the wrong place but I can’t find anything similar.
I purchased a Bosch mitre saw roughly 3 months ago from a local store and while using it a knot came out of a piece of wood I was cutting and hit the blade guard smashing it in to pieces, I tried to order a replacement part only to be told by many places including Bosch the saw is now discontinued and parts aren’t available anymore even though you can still buy the saw it’s self.
Is there anything I can do about this as at the moment the saw still works fine but is quite dangerous having a uncovered spinning blade.
Many thanks

Do the instructions warn against using the product without the blade guard in place?
It sounds dangerous to me.
I'd probably bin the saw and buy a nice sparkling new one, just to be on the safe side0 -
Wasn't much of a guard if a knot destroyed it.0

Assuming it was being used in accordance with the instructions, return it to the retailer and ask for a refund, repair or replacement.0

I wish I could afford to just go and get another but it cost £3000

@ a nice Englishman , I wish I could get it repaired but unfortunately they don’t stock spare parts and they’ve said warranty doesn’t cover it anyway because it was damaged and not faulty and the store said I need to speak to Bosch as it’s their fault they don’t stock parts anymore even though they still sell the saw0

Don't you know anyone (metalworker types) who could repair the guard?0

It's not about any warranty. It's about your legal rights to a product of satisfactory quality.
Unless there is an instruction not to use the saw to cut wood with knots (or it's generally accepted by woodworkers that mitre saws shouldn't be use in that way) I'd say it was defective in design or manufacture and you'd be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund from the retailer.0 -
Bosch are usually good at supplying spare parts. Is the thing you want not here

Have you looked on a well known internet auction site? Someone may be listing parts.0
