So we accepted an offer on our house about a month ago and despite our buyer handing in all paperwork etc its taken till last Friday (21st) to get the mortgage then next hurdle is the survey. So I have been told that the surveyor will ring my estate agent to get contact details to do the survey and would happen this week. It's now Thursday and nothing. The buyer and I are doing everything we need to do. Why is everything so slow. I have asked the estate agents to ring our buyer and ask them to chase why the surveyor hasn't been in contact. This selling a house is so frustrating. 🙈😩
Any advice? Can anyone offer any reason this is all going so slow? Are ybs just like this in general?
Thank you in advance.

I applied for a mortgage with YBS on 5th April, and according to my records they sent the surveyor to the property on 19th April.
I would suggest you're being a little impatient if you're being this stressed after a month in a process that could well take six months.0 -
I've used YBS for years and only once had a prob with a surveyor when it took them over 3 weeks to get the report to me. They don't have in-house surveyors (to the best of my knowledge) and have previously used Countrywide - and prob still do.
As above, you're prob being a tad hasty. It will take a while. It's summer. Lots of holidays which will mean backlogs and limited staff.
Unfortunately everything is slow when it comes to property buying. It's likely to take around 12 weeks from when your offer was accepted to when you complete.
On a final note, I have always been REALLY impressed with YBS and can't really recommend them highly enough. Really lovely staff and two in particular I dealt with direct for many years and they knew/remembered me personally without treating me like just another number. Always found them very competitive when I've looked around for mortgages so have stayed with them for donkey's years now.
Good luck!2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
Thank you for your replies, 😊
Maybe I am expecting about too much. I do expect a bit more communication if they can't get the surveyor to come this week then that's fine just say so. 🤷 That's my issue really. I do understand it can take months and months I just would like to know as we are going what is happening. I have heard some do driveby surveys? If this had happened would they tell someone at ybs the survey was done?
I think I am a control freak 🙈🙈0 -

I'm a control freak too, but we control freaks have to try and suffocate the impulse when it comes to buying and selling houses. Everything takes forever, except when it suddenly moves too fast......;).Thank you for your replies, 😊

😂😂 yes I am learning this.
Fyi SDL surveyors are coming next Friday. They just rang this morning to book an appointment and they informed me that they only got instruction form YBS to do the survey this morning. 🤷🤷. Seem friendly. As long as anything they find doesn't stop the house sale then it doesn't matter. 😊😊0 -
Just for anyone else who may be googling this type of thing like I was. The whole house sale process ended up taking exactly 5 month to the day. Finally got there. The surveyor did down value the house by 3grand and ask for a damp and electric report so that delayed things further. Didn't get formal mortgage offer till September which was 4 month into process we made it though lol xx0
