  • It was as advertised aka as it says on the tin - 0% payment for a period of 28 months on purchases.
You just didn't read the clause about when the purchases had to be made by.

Thanks for all the replies. You are right that everyone should always read the terms. However, when I signed up (via Experian) it wasn't obvious that the 0% period was so short. Neither it is mentioned in the summary box on the statement. There is just the usual information about charges after 56 days and promotional periods - not that they now interact differently. I would suggest such an important detail should be highlighted. Perhaps most obviously, I have had numerous 0% cards over the past 15 years and this has never been the case before.
Anyway, I have now paid off the balance and will close the account. I am about £85 out of pocket which is annoying but not the end of the world.
Wow - didn't realise there was so much aggression on this board though...
You would think they could have some kind of tick box to confirm that you have read and understood the terms and conditions.

    Good luck with your complaint.

I have seen it a few times, and very almost applied for this very MBNA card myself. Until I noticed reading the T&Cs...

People like to find somewhere to post and even if several people have corrected you they will still add their penny's worth into the mixing pot. You thought it was one thing, been informed different, and as you state - lesson learnt and move on.
Don't let what some people post put you off further posts, by all means you don't have to reply to this thread now but rest assured I think some posters have tried to help.
