This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good Morning

Up and on it this morning such a gorgeous day the sun has got his hat on :)

Stripped the bed and its doing its stuff in the machine. My most hated job ...putting it back on but after all this rain it is well over due.

planning to work this morning then take the afternoon boosting my Vit D levels in the garden.

Yesterday was mum day so least said the better.

Food plans will include salad for sure today maybe a caesat salad with bacon

My incompetent hands managed to drop a hot bowl of peas from the microwave last night but I have to say my first thought was good...I hated that bowl anyway :D Only a couple of plates left from the set now bought in Argos in 1987  Ill trust my hands to declutter those some time soon saves me decluttering them

Right off to make tea have a very happy sunny day all

    Morning everyone

Nelski - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Light cloud and dry underfoot, hoping sun will make an appearance at some point. Wash load ready to be pegged out - I'll do that in a mo.

DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night hunters chicken, HM egg and veg fried rice - delicious it was - clean plates. Tonight we'll be having fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.

Yesterday work was quite quiet but had a very difficult case towards the end of the day, which needed very careful handling. Couldn't get the thoughts to switch off in my mind but thankfully eventually managed to get some undisturbed sleep.

I have a nail appointment first thing, then in to town to do those jobs then home to crack on with the "to do" list. I will get another load in the WM shortly.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Morning folks and thanks NELSKI> Hallelujah summer is back and forecast to remain with us for quite some time.

The 2 DGDs are still in the land of nod but will be to waken up shortly to get organised for school. All 3 are back tonight for tea and another sleepover. The usual Thursday fix will be to make or I shall have a riot. Mince left defrosting overnight and will get the Bolognese on shortly.

Shopping day but it really must be a frugal one after all the spending I have been doing of late. DS is picking me up this morning and I must also ask him to take me to the pet store for another sack of bird seed. Stocks are low and as the birdies have now decided they like and can trust the new bird table they are back in force. Yesterday afternoon I attached some brackets to the new fence to hang fat ball feeders, nuts etc. They are still suspicious of those!

Have a lovely day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need. DUMPLING I too was cross on your behalf re the lax attitude of the MH workers not turning up. OL not seen you for a few days are you OK? Thinking of the poorlies as always, HOLLY & POPPY how are you both? I hope TAFF's dad is coping with his treatment and GERS' DM can manage to eat something today. Worrying times for lots of us on here. Take care all xx

A beautiful sunny morning here, not a cloud in the sky. It's set to get to 26 degrees later - at last some summer weather!

I managed to get my prescription yesterday, only took 4 visits to the docs and pharmacy, it's a big thing off my list now as the holiday insurance would be void without it. I still haven't done any packing but I have all day Saturday to panic about that.

Hugs to all in need, hope you see some sunshine, take care. XX

Good morning all, it's sunny here as well!! It's a bit cool, but no doubt will warm up.

    Yesterday went better
than I thought it would, i was visiting a friend, who sometimes makes me feel a bit down, but her granddaughter was there as well, which lightened the atmosphere so it was ok.

Today I'm turning into the washing fairy, then it's card making this afternoon. I cut a dress out last night , so will crack on with that tonight.

Hope everyone has a good day

Thinking of Holly, Poppy, Gers and her mum, and Dumpling, plus others with worries and health problems.

    Take care folks xx

Thanks for the thread Nelski and hugs to all those in need.

I need to collect Steve's prescription today and push for an appointment for me, I've waited over a month for a phone call to find out if I can get my hearing aids upgraded.
I've given up going out to social events because I can't hear, it's hard work being a carer for Steve without the added isolation being deaf. I know the Dr doesn't think I'm a priority but I do.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Good morning,

My physio appointment yesterday was a mixed bag. In short, I've to go back in 4 weeks, still need to give my knee rest and do some stretches every day. Work was super busy and flew in. We had an interview which lasted 2 hours, but it didn't seem it as it was really quite relaxed. I hope the candidate felt the same. Nipped to the gym for a bit then home for a call with my mum and dinner.

You may remember I downloaded an alarm app which requires you to complete some difficult maths problems to turn the alarm off. I've now changed it so that I need to scan the barcode of a product in the opposite end of the flat. Worked a treat this morning and was in the gym for 6am. So my evening is a bit more free, although I'll stay a bit later in work (another interview) then a phone call with my gran.

    Yesterday was NSD #13

    Morning all.

Could be a scorcher here :j

I'm waiting for a Openreach engineer to sort out the ropey broadband. The appointment is for between 8.00am and 1pm so it could be anytime. I suspect he won't even call here as he'll need to be at the green box which is just outside the flats. BT sent out a mini hub which gives a 4G connection, and it is tiny, only marginally larger than a debit card.

The bloke upstairs is having his wooden floor replaced today and tomorrow so there'll be lots of banging and sawing going on. DM can hear that kind of stuff unfortunately. Last night she ate a small portion of pasta which was heartening.

The cleaner is coming this morning, once she's gone I'll be going to visit my friend. I'll buy a cake on the way.

Thanks for all the good wishes. My thoughts are with all those struggling. Happy Thursday to everyone.

The BBC weather last night seemed to imply that we would only get one really hot day (Saturday) and that temps would be normal for the rest of the time. Anyway it's sunny today which is great.

Steve's treatment has knocked him out as usual so we're having a quiet few days, Hopefully we'll see Chris and Crystal because it's his birthday tomorrow and they've taken days off.

Brian has gone to Glastonbury but Laura decided she was wiser not to go and she needs to revise. She's sorry to miss it because she has been to every one since she was 18. No doubt they'll be there next year with baby in tow.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

Phew what a scorcher as a certain Sun headline once said :D. I have all the fans on downstairs and it is a bit more comfortable now. I have had a very busy morning so far with a Gas engineer coming to do a boiler check and the district nurse came to take some blood and dress my legs. She was very grateful for the fans as some of the houses she goes into are roasting hot.

The grandchildren came over as well this morning for breakfast before going to school. I apologised to my grand son as I didn't pass on a message from him to Lilly, I don't know what is wrong with my short term memory, I'm putting it down to the menopause. He didn't mind anyway so that was lucky.

The postman has been with a load of parcels. I have a dilemma, all the parcels are for my 'friend' who ordered a load of stuff on my Amazon account before she went nuclear at me, I don't really want to see her anytime soon but the parcels are taking up a lot of room. I will just have to bite the bullet and ask her to come and collect them asap and try not to be drawn into another 'intervention' :(:(.

snoozer, I'm glad Laura has decided not to go, I can't imagine she would have a great time feeling like she does xx
speky, your alarm quest is very funny, how do you not cheat and take the item with a barcode to your bedroom? I think Lilly is going to need something like the maths one as she just hits snooze for ages before she gets up.
Good luck Hester in getting your appointment. Hearing properly is something you need as it is very isolating otherwise xx
ScarletRibbons , your crafting afternoon sounds perfect xx
redruby, enjoy the party. I've booked for a trial offer from a cleaner next week but I feel very nervous about it. I hope yours improves as it is a bit cheeky to do a slapdash job when you are getting paid for it xx
Gers, thinking of you and your mum, hope the noise doesn't disturb her too much xx
Camelot, thank goodness you managed to get your prescription xx
TA, if it's not the grandchildren eating you out of house and home, it's the birdies :rotfl::rotfl:. Both are expensive hobbies but so worth it. Mine come for breakfast at least 3 times a week even if they have already had some at home xx
nmlc, glad you managed to get some sleep even after a difficult day xx
nelski, thanks for starting us all off this morning, enjoy boosting your Vitamin D :D.

I am missing JackieO's posts and also OL. I hope nanny is managing to have a lovely holiday and I look forward to hearing from her soon.

Lee is just making a tuna pasta salad for lunch and then I am planning to do some knitting in front of a soppy film or two.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
