Okay, so I have 28 days from two days ago to submit my POPLA appeal. I should receive formal confirmation by then (I will chase).

Out of interest, what if I do not submit an appeal to POPLA - what happens then? Would the next step be that they take me to court to claim the £100 fine? Wouldn't the judge say this is ridiculous as the owner has submitted all evidence providing this vehicle had broken (with 'Bensons for Beds' witnesses and emails) and should never have been pursued?

Edit: I should also say this intermediary isn't just some admin person this is the company that 'Bensons for Beds' hired to implement their car parking restrictions. I believe this intermediary then hired Parking Eye to do the Parking Charge Notices.

I am sure Benson's will have done the job and if PE do not confirm, you keep on to Benson's

POPLA would be just be a repeat with confirmation emails from Benson's included for the cancellation.
    POPLA could not deny that
PE will tell POPLA they will not continue and that will be that.

Let us assume that POPLA rejects your appeal, then you have all the info to get PE whooped in court especially if you involve Benson's as your witness

I will be expecting a final cancellation confirmation.
You won't get one, but just log in as if to appeal to P/Eye (NOT POPLA) and you will see it changed to £0 and cancelled by the end of next week.

Do not submit an appeal to POPLA, because that makes it harder to cancel by the pee'd off landowner, if you have to ask a third time. You'd get a Letter Before Claim from P/Eye first, like a warning, and that would be the time to complain a third time and email P/Eye as well with a formal complaint.

I doubt you will need it. Check P/Eye's website in a week.

Next time - the obvious thing to do if ever you know you overstayed, or just to retain the privacy of your data and refuse to engage with scum parking firms - COVER YOUR REAR* NUMBERPLATE WHEN YOU LEAVE.

Really easy, everyone should do that. It's legal as long as you remove the sock or carrier bag obstruction once on street (quickly) to avoid any issues with Police seeing it on public highway.

You DO NOT have to hand over your numberplate to scumbag private firms.

*check first that the exit camera points at REAR numberplates. If not, cover the front one.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
