One of the reasons we want to move out of our 2 bed terrace is because you have to traipse through the house to get to the garden. Not ideal if you're doing garden work/rubbish removal.
This house wouldn't really solve that issue, hence why the whole 'semi-detached' billing, is only slightly misleading.
So, keep looking, unless you love it/its a bargain!0 -
Do YOU think it's "semi-detached"? Does it matter in any other way at all, apart from what you want to call it? If you think it's worth £X, and the vendor is happy to sell for that, then you've found it's value, regardless of whatever labels you want to attach. If you think it's worth less than that, and the vendor doesn't want to sell for that, then there's no sale - again, regardless of label.
How about "link-semi-detached"? Now there's a term that could gain some traction...
All valuable questions, when you can see the situation from the outside. It's difficult to have this perspective when you're living it though. Thanks for the perspective0 -

I don't care for any kind of critiquing. Critique away. We like it and that's all that matters.

Katrina All I meant was that I think this shows that it's a subjective matter... for some semi means not attached to the neighbours on both sides so less noise issues, for others it means clear access to the garden, although as someone on this post has said even a completely detached house doesn't always have that advantage!
So as some very wise posters have said, I think ultimately it's up to what you want from a semi and whether this house fulfils that. For me I'd be happy with this as semi as I'm more concerned about noise than garden access (and definitely don't have a detached budget where we live!)0 -
but if you have concerns feel free to raise them with the vendor and negotiate better price.
That wood stove is a huge concern - Way (and I do mean way) too close to combustible materials and is a disaster just waiting to happen.
I have a similar design cassette multifuel stove, and the surfaces surrounding it get hot. Immediately above, in excess of 150°C - This is enough to cause serious burns.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

I don't, I define a semi as a property where the living areas ajoin another property on one side only.
A street where the properties are arranged garage-house-house-garage-garage-house-house-garage are semis as far as I'm concerned, even if the only way to access the back garden is through the house or garage. In this sense I treat utility rooms or covered passages in the same category as garages.0 -
