Advantages of Holding a Traditional "Mainstream" Bank Over Mobile Current Account Providers

If you don't want to fine, but if you did it would make no difference to your application success chances. It's just you being fussy and nothing to do with Monzo or the Home Office.
Pretty much, that's my reasoning and I'm sticking to it. I am very paranoid about the Home Office and want to give them absolutely no opening in which to f*ck my and my partners' lives up while charging me over a grand for the privilege. Monzo having a nice app is simply not worth enough to me.urs sinserly,

Just out of interest what bank statements do they ask you to provide, what is it that they actually want to see?
If they want to see statements for every account you have then that would be very annoying if you took advantage of switching offers and high interest regular savers etc because you can have 15+ accounts quite easily doing this.0 -

But as everyone is saying, your reasoning is pretty illogical.
I’m pretty sure the case workers aren’t expected to know every bank in the country by name, but it’s quite likely they are clever enough to operate a computer and would have a list of UK banks on that computer.
You do know that you come over as slightly hysterical in your attitude and posting manner towards the Home Office?====0 -

For spousal visas, you are required to provide six months of continuous statements to evidence income, plus six months of payslips matching this, plus also six items of proof of address over the past two and a half years for both of you - so if you don't have anything in joint names, that'd be six items each showing you both residing at the same address. (This is based on the rules from when we last put an application through - things may have changed since then.)
They don't care about all your accounts. Just what you provide as proof of address and income. So if your caseworker sees your stamped Monzo statements and doesn't like them for whatever reason, that's your application screwed.urs sinserly,

Just like if the case worker has a grudge against NatWest? Or maybe doesn’t like the words Bank of Cyprus? Or Clydesdale Bank? Or maybe the Bank of Baroda?
It’s pretty silly to expect a caseworker would know every single bank operating in the UK, isn’t it? And to be so paranoid that you think they wouldn’t check against a list of recognised UK registered banks...====0 -

Actually yes. As mentioned, decisions aren't open to free or easy appeal. They could well reject an application for that reason and it wouldn't be free or quick to fix.
They aren't going to, obviously. But there's a far greater risk of someone who doesn't know what a Monzo is screwing things up than there is of someone not knowing who Nationwide are. It’s pretty silly to expect a caseworker would know every single bank operating in the UK, isn’t it?
And frankly, it's my choice as to whether I do so or not, so I'm not sure why everyone is so gung ho about me being with Monzo even when my clear, and repeatedly expressed, preference is not to do so.urs sinserly,

True, which is why I'd be going with one of the ones that everyone knows of.

You misunderstand me, I’m not advocating you should be using Monzo, I also think they’re a bit of a Mickey Mouse organisation with a bunch of Monzomaniac acolytes shrieking and propagandising like its a religion or cult.
I’m just making the point that your specific reason isn’t really logical but do agree it’s totally up to you to decide who you bank with.====0 -

On that, I agree. Their app is nice and all but they're not particularly special and my experience of their actual service is eh. The raving about them gets on my nerves though.urs sinserly,

Have you ever gone and read their community forums? There are some people there that shouldn’t be allowed to handle their own financial affairs
A recent one declared that s/he didn’t need the Monzo Plus facility but was prepared to take it just to make a donation to Monzo!
I mean what sane person actively wants to give their bank money without cause? You donate to charities, not banks...====0
