Missing PIP Forms

Asked for an early review and sent the forms away. They never got there, missing in post. Got an extension, filled the forms out again and sent them special delivery guaranteed. They have arrived and been signed for.

How long after they have been signed for will it take to process and log onto the system and I get a text message to say they've got them??

This is so stressful

Thanks!

According to a thread in on another website there are 10 week delays in opening the mail at the mail handling site so it's quite possible your first set of forms arrived but simply hadn't been logged yet. See penultimate post here https://www.rightsnet.org.uk/forums/viewthread/12795/

Hope you have kept a copy of what you sent.

    OMG that's shocking :(

So both form might turn up 10 weeks later?!

My award is not due to end till next year, I asked for an early review. Will they cancel my award since they haven't received the forms by the deadline or will it continue because it ends next year?

Also if I do get a higher award.. when do they do the backdated payments from? The day I called and informed them of a change or when they received the form or the date of the decision?

    Thanks

If you notify them of a change within one month of the change occurring and the award increases it should be backdated to three months after the date of change (due to the three month PIP qualifying period).

In practice most people have a gradual change so there isn't a definite date. In this case I think the backdating is to the date you notified them of a change.

  • I recently sent my PIP forms 10 days before the due date to give them plenty of time, rang on the due date to be told not received and they would send new ones out, but to check back in 5 days, was told that they always allow time for them to be put on the system, sure enough five days later the originals had arrived.

I have sent two PIP forms in recently for other people and it has taken 2-3 weeks to be logged on their system. It's frustrating to have to pay to send copies only for the originals to turn up weeks later.

Signed for delivery is a waste of money really. It still has to go through the mail sorting process and it's signed for by someone from Royal Mail. Once it's signed for, who knows where it goes.

    +1

First or second class post, with Proof of payment, is enough for any court or tribunal. In addition, if it is not signed for, it can be taken as "non-delivery".

    Just use normal post.

It all pretty much gets scanned on to a program called DRS and then we can view it from there via the customers NINO.

Sometimes it sits on there for ages before staff realise it's been received, or in some circumstances it just gets ignored until the customer chases it up.

OMG ok.. they have now received BOTH sets of forms.. I questioned why I never got a text or letter to say they have arrived and they said it's gone straight to a case worker so that's why I didn't?

Doesn't it always go to a case worker? What does this mean?

    TY

I don't always receive text messages why my forms have been received.

Your file will have been sent to the health assessment providers. They will now look at your form and evidence and decide if a face to face assessment is needed, most have those so expect that. You'll receive an appointment letter in the post at some point in the future. Waiting times vary depending on backlog in your area.
