Evidence of PPI

Options
Hi all, I am hoping someone can help me. I wrote to Tesco, Santander and Citibank in respect of credit cards I held with them. These cards were taken out around 10 years ago. I requested ‘documentary evidence’ (application or statements) to show there was no PPI on the cards. All of the providers failed to provide documentary evidence and just confirmed there was no PPI on the accounts. I am concerned or certainly suspicious as to why they have not provided said documentary evidence. All of these providers are known to have added insurance to cards unbeknown to the cardholders. Should I bring this further or is their written confirmation of no insurance binding and final? I look forward to any responses.

If neither you nor they can find evidence of there being PPI, you can assume there wasn't any.

It would be impossible for them to provide 'documentary evidence' of you not having it, without them finding every statement, for the duration of the account, as you're asking them to prove a negative.

    Really?
What is YOUR evidence for this allegation?
Credit card PPI appeared on every monthly statement when the account retained a balance, so the only way it could be added without the knowledge of the customer would be for the customer to not check their statements.

So you asked them to "prove" a negative? You were never likely to get anywhere with that approach.

FOS will accept the Bank's records show that you didn't have PPI, I suggest you do too.

I think you may have been reading too many CMC's websites! There are many better works of fiction out there!
I work in Data Protection and spend my days dealing with CMC's. Only here trying to help!!

As the accuser it's up to you to provide any evidence.
All of these providers are known to have added insurance to cards unbeknown to the cardholders.
    How would that work?
It would have to be itemised, separately on any monthly statement, if it was charged. Certainly be difficult to miss.
