You don't want to use jars, but you don't want meals with lots of ingredients. Personally, I would use jars, just this once - no-one's going to care, and I'm sure they'd rather you were outside with them enjoying yourself than stuck in the caravan slaving over a hot stove.

Whenever we do these kinds of holidays, I always make the first night's supper in advance so we don't need to cook from scratch after a day's travelling.

How about making two large trays of lasagne at home - and if you have the space, freeze them for ease of transportation. Wrap the dishes tightly in tin foil and pack them to take with you, then all you have to do is chuck them in the oven in the static as they'll be defrosted by the time you need them. Serve with salad and garlic bread.

You could also pre-make a large tupperware container of coronation chicken to take with you, and serve it on top of jacket potatoes baked in the static caravan oven.

Big trays of sausages are easy to roast in a caravan oven, you'd only have to make pans of mash to go with it (or treat yourself to chips from the local chippy if there is one).

One night we will usually get ready-roasted chickens from the nearest supermarket with a hot deli counter, and serve that with all kinds of salads, plenty of crusty bread, and a bottle or two of wine.
  • Fajitas or burritos then you just need to cook up the meat/veg and everyone can make their own :happyhear

Things like Bolegnese sauce is nice n easy to make without jars, doesnt need to take long without jars :) my sis is making meatballs one night though, so decided not to do similar again, hehe!

Personally id have bought 3 chickens, roasted those. Nuked enough jacket spuds for everyone whilst the chickens were roasting, whilst the chickens were resting, put the jackets in to crisp up. Boiled a couple of pans of corn on the cobs, opened a few bags of salad leaves, chopped some onions, tomatoes, cucumbers. Big tub of coleslaw. Joint the chickens, let everyone help themselves using paper plates :)

Its a holiday, make life as easy as possible :)

I did think about the roast chicken idea, the sound of what you described is making me hungry again, haha.... but I thinking bunging a load of burgers n chips in the oven will be easier :) 2 of the caravans are right next to each other, so will just use both ovens

I'm a lazy mare, plus the caravan's generally hot enough without having the oven on to cook 3 chickens, so I'd be going for the ready cooked. Salad, garlic bread, potato salad made in advance, sorted.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

The MSE in me refuses to buy the cooked chicken unless I could lift them for a few pence YS :rotfl:
