Does Triple Glazing Increase House Value Compared To Double?

There is slighly better energy savings on triple glazing and the newer glass from Pilkington even has a solar heat generating glass option but it comes down to how much you save vs payback compared to DG.0

OP, take no notice of Baxio, ive 25 years at the core of the industry so i think i know what i'm talking about.
"as sunlight can't get through it as well" one of the funniest things ive read on here in a while.
Sorry, I should have said ENERGY not sunlight, but I am right. Less ENERGY can get through, so windows that are on shadier facing sides can be colder during the day:
Google "triple glazing less sunlight" and look at the Anglican Homes results0 -

Differing thicknesses of glass mean that a given frequency is less likely to pass through all the sheets in total. Thicker glass also passes less sound.0 -
I've got triple glazing on my house, and it was most likely fitted when the house was built 26 years ago. In spite of that, I was only given a grade F on my energy performance certificate.
In terms of construction, they're wooden framed with no signs of rotting. There's only a single seal on the window opening and I guess newer window frames have double or triple sealing. (single seals are annoying as spiders love taking up residence in the resulting open cavity!)
Nominal U Value for old style tripling glazing is about 2, whereas new style double glazing is 1.4 and new style triple glazing is about 0.8.
I don't think triple glazing increases your house value at all. But it will improve energy performance at lot. I did a calculation using assumed U-Values for all the surfaces in my property, and I came to the conclusion that my windows were the biggest source of conductive heat loss. This is despite my windows already being triple glazed. That said, that statement all assumes that you have no curtains or blinds drawn. I've gone for the thermal blinds, and they make an instant difference to the feeling of warmth if they are lowered.
However despite that, the upgrade costs outweigh the energy savings. There's no point upgrading windows for it's own sake unless your existing frames are deteriorating. However if you are replacing windows, assuming the additional costs of triple glazing are small, then I would go for triple glazing.8.9kw solar. 12 panels ESE, 16 panels SSW.
