Will the next generation be able to buy their own house?

They sort of do, in a relative way.
What makes you so convinced house prices are distorted?0 -
It doesn't matter how many people come to the uk, all that matters is how many can raise the fund needed to be able to buy.
No that’s not right.
If they can afford to rent then a landlord can buy.
They can contribute towards a purchase as a result of the demand for rental accommodation - obviously that’s not 1:1 ratio, the houses will be shared.By your logic if you look at a refugee camp, you could argue there is huge demand and very little supply, home prices hve to go up.
Nope refugees can neither buy nor rent so don’t affect demand. Refugees in a refugee camp don’t consume housing.
My logic is that most immigrants contribute to demand by renting.
So it does matter how many come to the UK as they will consume housing.
Sounds like you’ve trotted out something you’ve read without understanding it.0 -
It's painful to watch the same rubbish arguments being trotted out again sometimes.
There is zero demand for a tent in a refugee camp. The fact that people are currently living there is irrelevant. If a seagull has just pooed on your head it doesn't indicate demand for seagull poo on your head.
Literally everybody currently in a refugee camp with any resources is trying to get out of the refugee camp, just as everybody who has seagull poo on their head at any given moment is trying to get rid of it. Thus proving that demand is zero. The exact opposite is true of the UK.0 -

Markets that are distorted always correct eventually, the longer and more distorted they get the more violent and uncontrolled the correction when it comes
It is just so painful reading all your theories. Hand on heart I could never imagine a potential life partner willing to sit on her hands waiting for the "inevitable property crash" for years or decades as she watches her friends nesting, going to work and at weekends bbq's with the family etc.
If my daughter brought someone like you home and shared his views of the world, how he was going to wait it out for a bad event in the world so property prices crash as he he sits it out in his bed sit it would horrify me.
Yes, at some point something will test us, and event will come along that hurts people, something we never saw coming, but you are totally wrong to think you are going to profit from it, the type of people that will survive will be the ones that we surviving anyway at any given moment.0 -
I’ve said if many times before but women simply can’t wait.
You’re considered geriatric (it’s a medical term) if pregnant at something like 36. The risk of Down’s syndrome etc. Increase massively and fertility drops massively too around 35.0 -

How will the infrastructure in the north cope if everyone decided to move north?
My guess is that you’d have congestion on the roads, parking issues to the point where emergency vehicles couldn’t get through, sardine like conditions on some public transport, people in corridors in A&E waiting for beds, nursing home patients bed blocking in hospitals causing delays for routine operations, long delays in getting a GP appointment, higher unemployment as there’s an oversupply of people for some roles, higher levels of debt, repossession, higher levels of fly tipping and general rubbish piling up.
Of course not everyone will go north overnight. If some do then salaries may rise in the south and attract people so it will find its own level.
I’m just wondering why if you genuine'y think it’s better at the moment, why are you actively trying to ruin it by advertising the fact.
The sensible thing would be to keep quiet and hope you have it nice for a bit longer (you probably won’t with net immigration running at 1/3rd million).0 -

As we speak there is unsurprisingly a housepricecrash.com thread "How can I convince my wife to sell up and rent". He might as well while he is at it ask how can I convince my wife that beer bellies are wonderful, poor job prospects and unskilled work are fantastic, no aspiration, work ethic or education are good things.
The more I read that website the more I realise that there are winners and losers in life, Alpha's and Beta's. This is the bad side to the still new internet, where substantial and sizable groups of minorities think they can get together and alter evolution overnight by complaining everyday.
Anyway, enough of this, this is got my heckles up, think I will go and raise the rents0 -
I wonder how the conspiracy theorists above function in daily life.
Actually, the worst one doesn’t as we know, he’s in a mountain of debt and neglects an unwell child to rant on here. I honestly am distressed that I don’t know who they are to call social services.
Anyway, older people will get older still, then die, and their homes will find buyers. Young people may need to rent a room, flat share, and scrimp and save, as ever, and will then buy the starter home vacated by the buyers of the homes higher up the ladder.0
