Ladybird larvae eat aphids but Harlequins will also eat other ladybird eggs and larvae and moth and butterfly eggs.
They won't affect your plants but will have impact on native wildlife.0 -

Could they invade my house?!! How can I get rid of them if they are not very nature friendly?0 -
There is little you can do apart from hand squishing, but there are now well established and are not going away any time soon.

They're strange little fellows - I first noticed them last year amongst my raspberries and at first glance wondered if I'd strayed further into the twilight zone - they look like little semiconductors. This year not seen that many at all, but I noticed a lot of ladybird hankie pankie going on amongst the raspberries earlier in the year. Need to go out and get some IDs when the weather clears
There's some excellent info here:

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0
