No advice, OP, sorry. But I’ve never heard a good story about Ernest Jones. We had a problem with my engagement ring, as did my husband’s sister with hers AND his brother’s wife with hers too! I would never use them again.
I hope you get something sorted.0 -
I think I am going to ask for a refund even though I loved the ring.
But how do I go about it?
Just go in and ask for the manager and say I'd like to return and get a refund for this ring as its clearly faulty and not fit for purpose?0 -
That's very poor service if they didn't offer to fix it for free, even if the damage was accidentally caused by you. A reputable jeweller will normally provide free aftercare like adjustments anyway. The markup is very high on items like this. A £2600 ring from a high street jeweller will probably actually be worth £600 with a £2000 markup.0

Not advice as such but avoid any chain jeweller and go to your local independent.0

Update! I got the ring back and I was happy with it. They had smoothed it so it wasn't sharp. But now. Just 2 months later the claw has snapped off somehow!
Seriously! How is a 2500 pound ring causing this much trouble!
What do u think my options are?
I would be taking it to an independent jeweller and get them to have a look at it and write a report if it is faulty saying so. You might have to pay for this.
I would then go back to EJ and ask for a refund as this is the second time it is faulty and they have already had one chance to repair it.
The claw shouldn't just snap. What were you doing when it snapped? I've broken jewellery before but only because I'm clumsy! But I certainly felt the impact when Ive bashed it!!!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Update. I spoke to the manager of the store and she was lovely. She completely agreed with me and apologised. She's offered me to try on a replacement ring and if I'm not happy I can swap for another style ring.
I didn't go down the refund route as I don't really want to keep shopping around tbh. I don't know enough about rings etc.
I did do a comparison online with the same diamond specs and style etc and they did come up as very similar prices so I don't think I'm getting ripped off0
