Error on Credit Report regarding a bogus PPI Insurance Claim

Options
Before I continue, as a bit of background, I used to be a Lloyds TSB customer until my branch was sold off by Lloyds to become TSB. All my bank current/saving accounts & Mastercard held with LLoyds TSB, then became badged as TSB. The Mastercard I have had since 2004 (when I was a Lloyds TSB customer) until the present day...

So my issue is this:

I recently applied for a 0% credit card via MSE to consolidate some debt. I then had a phone call from said Credit Card provider, who ran a credit check on me, which I believe is common practice. They asked me to explain why I have an CREDIT INSURANCE CLAIM on my Mastercard dating back to May 2018. I did not know as it was the first I'd heard of it.

I downloaded my Credit Report from Experian and Equifax and both show I have a PPI Credit Insurance Claim active (I didn't activate it) and it looks like my card is being paid by a third party (it isn't).

I do pay £2-3 a month for a PPI Policy on the card (which I don't know how to cancel). I was aware I had PPI on the card so any claim is null, but what I am completely baffled about is why it is showing I am actively claiming on it when I am not.
  • I contacted TSB customer services - they say they can't see anything on their system. They told me to contact Lloyds
  • I contacted Lloyds and they no longer have me on their system. they advised I contacted the Lloyds TSB PPI Team.
  • I contacted the Lloyds TSB PPI team and they can't see any payments being made nor any active claim.
  • I have now emailed both Experian and Equifax as to where this information is coming from but I am at a complete loss for what to do next as I keep getting passed from pillar to post.

The frustrating thing is, that whilst this is on my Credit Report, it will affect future financial decisions, which in my opinion is based on incorrect data.

I'd appreciate if any one could offer any advice on what to do, or if they've experienced anything similar.

Thanks in advance!
