I am applying for a schengen visa for my Thai spouse for a week holiday in spain. We live in UK.
We have the interview in Manchester next friday where I need to take a long list of documents.
I have everything ready to go except im confused about the travel insurance part.
This is the wording.
Travel Insurance Policy:
▪ Issued by insurance company as per the EU guidelines.
▪ Valid for at least 15 days from the date of return to UK.
▪ Minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros or 50,000 $
▪ Insurance must be issued in UK only
Now I can buy travel insurance for around £7 that has medical cover for £15 million, way more than the £30,000 stated.
But if i search for Schengen travel insurance and get quotes its always nearer £45. I cant see anything special about this insurance so i am wondering whether its just a scam to get you to pay more for normal travel insurance.
I have read "no deductible" mentioned a lot, i tihnk that means no excess?
Has anyone any experience of this? I dont want to not get the visa becuase of paying £45 but also i dont want to get ripped off but companies preying on worried Schengen visa applicants.
Thanks
Rich
