Disabled persons railcard question

I have a question about applying for a disabled persons railcard.
I'm doing it online and it has an option to put in a discount code, and it says council code.
Do councils give you a discount when you purchase a railcard? I just wondered where you get a discount code or a council code for it.
Thanks for any help.

Some councils do; many don't, and many that used to have stopped. Check your local council's website (usually the council that issues concessionary bus passes if you have multiple local authorities).
https://www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/residents/transport-and-roads/public-transport/concessionary-travel/disabled-railcard-discount-codes.aspxQualifying disabled residents of Cheshire West and Chester can get a 20% discount on the price of a railcard making it £16 instead of the full price of £20, if they have a discount code. Please see the National Rail website to see if you qualify.
If you qualify and already have a Cheshire concessionary bus pass you can apply online.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Thanks for this.
I can't find anything on my local councils website at all, they offer the freedom pass (TFL) but no mention of a discount for this, so I assume they don't supply one.0 -
I have just renewed my Disabled Persons Railcard with £7 worth of Tesco vouchers.
I googled discounts for railcards when I saw the discount code box to see if anything was knocking around and found it.
Much better than the £30 a year they charge.0 -

It is only £20 per year for the disabled railcard (or £54 for a 3year card):

^ Strange they joined to make an inaccurate first post! Nonetheless, you can use Tesco Clubcard vouchers for it.
I think I got mine for £10 one year when I had an annual season ticket for work (which itself was half price because I worked in a school and the council had an arrangement with the local train company ).0
