Costco Sage (Accounting Software) Offer

Hello,
I am looking to take up the Costco Sage offer where they are offering the online accounting for my business to keep me sane with my offline accounts handled by an accountant.
What I can't find out online is how long is that cut price is available for, it says for the rest of your subscription period but then mentions same T&C again (presumably to include clause about closure when they want to). Anyone taken up this offer and can answer? and for that matter have any opinion on Sage accounting?

Sage can be expensive. You need to check the T&C's carefully as add ons and updates can cost a lot more than you think..
If you have an accountant why do you need Sage? Sage is supposed to do away with the need for an accountant.
Excel spread sheets are enough for general book keeping.0 -
Thanks, good point about add-ons, I'll check that and certainly won't lock myself in if that is likely to be the case. So far what I have seen - I am happy with the basic product (aka Accounting Start) features but I assumed it would all be part of that - so I'll double check now.
I used an online accountant before (for about 6 years) and it really helped having a clear view/record of activity in front of me when I need it, I have been living without it for couple of years and really find it disorienting at times. Spreadsheets are ok but that doesn't give whole picture all the time. I won't mind paying £40/year to keep things simple (and keep me sane).0 -
you'll pay a lot more than £40/year for Sage.
I shall echo the comment above, do you really need a sophisticated system like Sage? There are loads of online cloud based accounting packages that are cheaper or more suited than Sage for particular circumstances.
Doesn't your accountant have a "recommended" package, ie one they are familiar with and probably sell on at a slight discount to the direct price from the software company?0 -

The accountant supports a number of online packages - all of these others are at least double this price. This is really in addition to what my accountant already does (but without visibility to me) so if the Sage wants to charge more in future, I'll just leave.
I was hoping to hear from someone who has used this and able to share their experience.0 -
?? As I said £3.30/pm + VAT is what the offer is for, which I have now taken up.

your idea that you can switch on a whim is not going to cut the mustard when you have to transfer balances between systems - unless you are happy to pay the accoutant to do that
as i said, why do you think you need Sage's sophistication?
too late now since you say you have signed up, if all you want is bookkeeping then use a free one like VTT+0 -
Avoid Sage and aim for Quickbooks or Xero. If your accountant has an affiliation with Xero or Quickbooks, they should pass on some good rates.0

Hello
Does anyone have the link to this?
I had it earlier in the year and about to move to Sage over the Christmas period when I have some spare time although can't seem to find the link anymore.0 -
I'm not convinced it's a current offer.Signature removed for peace of mind0
