Im reading all this and wondering how amicable your separation is
It could be difficult and costly to proove you are entitled to anything legally, but what would happen if you worked out a fair figure and just asked for it?
"Dear Ex, i have paid 1/2 the mortgage for the last 6 months and 1/4 for the first year, and contributed £x towards the renovation so I expect y% of the increase in house value"
If you keep it reasonable he may see it as a cheap way to separate without any fuss.0
