cex returns

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help me.
My husband paid for a pair of wireless head phones on Saturday 22/6 from cex in shrewsbury after charging and using them for half an hour they became faulty, I looked up their returns policy which stats you need to return with a receipt to any store. As we live in telford i popped into cex this morning to be told my receipt wasn't my receipt they needed one with a code on as the head phones are from shrewsbury shop. Can anyone tell me where I stand if my receipt of payment is not my receipt? Do I have to go all the way back to shrewsbury to be told the same? Or do I just accept the lost of £50.00 ? I've never had this problem with returning a faulty item.. Thank you

You could post them? I don't know how Cex operate but it's possible the shops are different franchises - in which case Cex Telford Ltd don't need to deal with returns from Cex Shrewsbury Ltd.

It's to do with how the stores are franchised - the code they give is to 'claim' the cost of the return back from the other store. Without it you won't get anywhere with the Telford store as they'll be out of pocket.

You need to call the Shrewsbury store and ask where to go from here.
  • Thank you will be going back to shrewsbury, falling that trading standards as they do not hold up their own returns policy ....

Trading Standards won't deal with you, your only hope is via the CAB.
