Ccj

Options
Afternoon

I have a ccj on my credit file that is currently satisfied, but it is due to come off my file next week, how much difference in reality would the removal of an old ccj make to my file?
It is the only ccj on my file, the only other negative is a default which is due to fall off towards the end of the year.

Thanks

Your files will obviously look a lot better without the CCJ.
  • Well it will be off your file and will look better to lenders.

In terms of a “score or rating” impact, ignore either way

The OP didn't mention a score or rating.

Whilst it is true that the older an adverse event is on your credit file, the less impact it has; for as long as it is visible, it is still included in decision making processes.

Therefore, of course it will make a difference, but how much of one it will be, depends on your credit file's health since then and how well you have been managing credit. if you have been building a clean file since the time it was recorded, then its eventual removal will be the icing on the cake.

If you have CCJ's or other adverse markers on your file since this one in particular, then the difference will probably be next to none, as the more recent ones override the oldest in terms of impact.

As you have a default still on your file, there could still be a difference, but not one as strong as having nothing adverse left. But since it expires later this year, the time it is removed will be the icing on the cake for you. I hope the relief and sense of achievement that the removal of these reminders of bad financial management bring you will deter from any future mishap ;)
