Recurring Fault with Washing Machine

Hi
I'm hoping that somebody can give us some advice.
We have had a washing machine from John Lewis for 23 months (an Indesit) and it has now just developed exactly the same fault for the third time - the door release light on the front flashes indicating a faulty circuit board. This board has already been replaced twice.
What we would like to know is can we ask for a new machine as we are now one month away from the end of the guarantee and don't want to be stuck with this fault again in the future.
I've had a look at the trading standards site and think we may be able to say it's not fit for purpose but some experience/tactics for when I phone them would be great.
Thanks!
Heather
